30 % of the adult population suffer from insomnia compared to 3-5 % OSAS.*
The HomeSleepTest (HST) and the HomeSleepTest REM+ devices are cost effective, easy to use home-based sleep screeners to determine sleep stages, sleep disturbances and resulting sleep fragmentation by cortical arousals.
Thanks to it’s compact design and minimal wiring, the application is very simple and comfortable to wear. Both systems reliably record EEG, EOG, EMG, impedance, ambient light, activity, position and sound for snoring detection.

THE DOCTOR
The patient is given the HomeSleepTest (HST) or the HomeSleepTest REM+ to pre-screen for any potential underlying sleep disorder, especially insomnia.
THE PATIENT
The HST and the HST REM+ are so easy to use that the sensor can be applied by the patient in the comfort of their own home.
THE TABLET
The tablet will guide the patient through the sensor application. When the test starts, the tablet records all the data, that the sensor transfers via Bluetooth.
THE CLOUD
As soon as the sleep study is finished, the data will be transferred for analysis from the tablet to our cloud platform.
THE REPORT
The measurement is processed and a report will be made available. The scoring is verified by the doctor based on the recorded signal data.
Dr. Hans-Günter Weeß:
“The SOMNOmedics HomeSleepTest is a good way to obtain objective data on sleep quality outside the sleep laboratory and information on the cause of insomnia at the first two stages of treatment. Thus, treatment and cost-intensive methods in the sleep laboratory can be preserved and patients can be treated more quickly.”
Dr. Holger Hein:
“In addition to a detailed anamnesis and the collection of subjective sleep data by questionnaires and a sleep protocol lasting several weeks, a measurement of sleep stages is also indispensable for the accurate diagnosis of insomnia. Best in the usual conditions, so at home. With the HomeSleepTest from SOMNOmedics, there is a good procedure that is easy to use by the patient himself and which provides valid data fast and reliable.”
The HomeSleepTest is applied using a unique, disposable 3-button adhesive electrode on the forehead and a separate adhesive electrode on the mastoid. The innovative shape of the forehead electrode allows a particularly simple and safe application and at the same time a reliable recording of the EOG and EEG channels. This standard version is particularly easy to use for the patient.
The HomeSleepTest REM+ is applied using four separate disposable adhesive electrodes. The AASM-compliant position of the EOG electrodes improves the recording of horizontal and vertical eye movements and facilitates the evaluation of REM sleep. The flexible positioning of the individual adhesive electrodes makes the HomeSleepTest REM+ particularly suitable for paediatric use (when the forehead is too narrow for the 3-button electrode) and for research purposes (when the position of the EOG electrodes plays a special role).
The process of the measurements as well as the 11 recorded signals are identical for both systems. The sensor used is automatically recognised and the tablet guides the patient through the application with the sensor-corresponding video.
EEG* – Frontopolar application Fp1:M1
EOG – Left/right eye movement
EMG – Muscle tone
* Two additional EEG signals are available for display in the software

With a recording time of up to 36 hours, multiple nights can be recorded. Thanks to the short charging time, the HST is quickly ready for the next measurement again.
The tablet will guide the patient through the sensor application. It automatically recognises which of the two HST systems is being used and displays the corresponding application videos. After starting the test, all data from the sensor is transferred to the tablet via Bluetooth. The snoring is recorded via the tablet’s microphone.
Cloud
Once the sleep measurement is complete, the data from the tablet is uploaded to our secured cloud for analysis. Once the data has been uploaded, direct communication between the physician and the patient is made possible via the tablet. Follow-up measurements can also be released directly by the physician via the chat function.
Once the measurement is uploaded to the cloud, it is immediately available to the physician in pre-evaluated form. A report is generated automatically. The pre-evaluated data must be verified by a physician.
The measurements are charged per measurement under a PayPerUse model. The measurements can be ordered online by specifying the HST customer number and are immediately activated in the associated password-protected cloud account.
