Randersacker, June 2024. SOMNOmedics AG recently launched its latest product for anaesthesia depth monitoring. The NARCOguide expands the product range for sleep diagnostics, neurology and cardiology to include another area – anaesthesiology.
The aim of SOMNOmedics is to implement and utilize the latest technologies and develop new examination methods in order to provide innovative devices with enhanced informative value, high quality and ease of use for clinical routine and research. SOMNOmedics is now using its expertise in sleep diagnostics and cardiology to expand into related areas of medical diagnostics. The new NARCOguide combines anaesthesia depth determination with the patented method of continuous, non-invasive blood pressure measurement. This makes it the only EEG-based depth of anaesthesia monitor on the market that can continuously measure the haemodynamic effects of general anaesthesia in addition to the central effects.
The NARCOguide is a small and compact stand-alone device that has been designed specially for ambulatory settings. It can be easily installed in the operating room using a bracket. The device is operated via the integrated touch display. All data is shown clearly at a glance on the display: depth of anesthesia and blood pressure curves for progress control, the current depth of anesthesia values, automatic detection of burst suppression, oxygen saturation, heart rate and blood pressure, as well as the raw EEG and ECG data.
Patients benefit from the use of the device through an adjusted dosage based on the depth of anaesthesia, which reduces post-operative complications and lowers the risk of awareness. Anaesthetists particularly appreciate the ease of use and the clear display of all relevant
parameters including the continuous blood pressure measurement. In addition, the use of an anaesthetic depth monitor reduces consumption of anaesthetics and shortens the patient’s recovery time, thereby lowering costs. The NARCOguide can be used to monitor depth of
anaesthesia during general anaesthesia as well as for post-operative patient monitoring.
