Our own vineyard is located directly adjacent to the SOMNOmedics company building:

Since 2019, a new, fungus-resistant and drought-resistant grape variety has been grown on our 0.4 hectares:

the SAUVIGNAC.

In 2023, the first 250 bottles of the new wine were bottled.

May the vines thrive on the soil of the franconian shell limestone, may the traditions of Franconian viticulture adapt in the interest of the environment and may the wine meet the taste of wine lovers.

The Sauvignac

Global warming and new goals in dealing with our environment add new challenges to traditional vineyard management. To become sustainable, we have to question the use of fertilisers and pesticides, as well as the economical use of our water resources.

The grape variety Sauvignac is a cross between Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling as well as an unknown resistance partner. The grapes are reminding of the parent variety Sauvignon Blanc and also the stable acidity makes the relationship unmistakable.

The Sauvignac is a new, fungus-resistant, and drought-robust grape variety. This means that its vines have built resistances to the worst pests in viticulture, namely downy mildew and grey mould rot. In this way, the use of pesticides can be reduced or even avoided altogether.
